Denver Bars That Are Full of Holiday Cheer

Denver is a city that has mastered the art of the drink. From craft beer to cider, to expertly made seasonal cocktails, there’s always something delicious being poured. And during the holiday season, those drinks are paired with the spirit of the season. If you’re looking to celebrate the season with some spirits of your own, head out to one of these festive bars.

Miracle

The Christmas pop-up that started in New York in 2014 is back for another round in Denver. This year it’s setting up shop at Avanti Food & Beverage in LoHi. The drinks will be festive as will the gear. This year the Christmas-themed glassware (see: this one of Santa’s butt) will be available for purchase with ten percent of the proceeds going to Action Against Hunger.

Terminal Bar

Union Station is the epicenter of downtown Denver’s massive holiday light show and the Terminal Bar is the place to be if you’re headed that way. Sip on one of a long list of Colorado craft beers or try some of the seasonal cocktail concoctions like “There’s the Aquavit”—a combination of aquavit, suze, Combier kummel simple syrup and lime juice.

Rhein Haus

Like any German Biergarten worth its pretzels, Christmas is on display at Rhein Haus. Trees, garlands, lights, and nutcrackers give the bar a holiday feeling. And while you can get a stein of good German beer, it’s more in keeping with the season to order a mug of gluhwein—a warm German mulled wine.

The Brown Palace

The historic Brown Palace Hotel and Spa has been celebrating the holidays for more than a century, so they’ve got this down by now. In November, the hotel is holding its 31st annual Champagne Cascade, where a tower of Champagne glasses taller than most Christmas trees flows with bubbly. And all the way through season the Brown Palace has holiday tea (which can feature holiday wine if you want it to) each afternoon. Just make sure you have a reservation well in advance. You’ll need it.

Festivus at the Denver Sports Castle

Colorado, and Denver more specifically, do beer better than almost any place in the world. Come to appreciate that fact as you air your grievances at the Denver Sports Castle for the city’s holiday beer festival. The fact that Denver has over 60 breweries puts it in a unique position to be able to fill an entire festival with only local beers. So grab your ticket and your glass and enjoy the best brews the city has to offer.
