Sting's "50,000" Inspired By David Bowie and Prince (Video)

September 20, 2016

Sting's new song "50,000" was inspired by the recent deaths of David Bowie and Prince. A live version of the track from BBC's Later... with Jules Holland can be seen below.

The title "50,000" refers to the number of fans lifting their voices and raising their hands at stadium rock concerts as "every word he ever wrote reflected back to him." The lyrics mention the adulation of a massive crowd, comparing it to "a serious drug you could never kick."
