More troops could be deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border as five thousand troops are already set to be deployed by the end of the week. Troops from Peterson Air Force Base and Fort Carson are being deployed to the border with Mexico.  President Trump announced yesterday that as many as 15-thousand military personnel would be sent to the southern border in response to an approaching caravan of migrants fleeing Central America. 

Americans can buy health insurance from the Obamacare marketplace starting today.  The Affordable Care Act marketplace is scheduled to be open for six weeks.  This year will be the first time consumers can buy short-term health plans that will have lower costs, but offer less coverage.  Connect for Health Colorado is officially open for business today.  The open enrollment period runs through January 15th, but there is a signup deadline of December 15th to have coverage start January 1st. 

Amazon is raising its minimum wage to 15 dollars an hour today for all its U.S. employees.  This applies to full-time, part-time, seasonal, and temporary workers.  The pay hike also covers people who work at Whole Foods.
