Education Secretary Betsy DeVos says she's "pleased and grateful" that President Trump has decided to fund the department's grant to the Special Olympics.  Initially, the Trump Administration's 2020 budget proposed an 18-million dollar cut in funding for the program.   On Thursday, Trump changed course and said he has authorized funding for the program for people with disabilities.

A proposal is on the table to raise the tobacco buying age from 18 to 21 in Denver.  It was pushed forward by officials with Denver Public Health and Environment yesterday.  The aim is to reduce teen smoking and vaping.  If approved, the law would also apply to electronic cigarettes.  The proposal will be in front of a Denver City Council committee next week.  Mayor Hancock says youth usage is on the rise, and hiking the purchase age could help curb that trend.

Gonzaga, Virginia, Purdue and Texas Tech are heading to the Elite Eight.  The Gonzaga Bulldogs will meet third-seeded Texas Tech in the West Region final of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.  Virginia and Purdue will square off in the South Region final on Saturday.  Four more Sweet 16 matchups are on tap Friday.
