Three Things You Need to Know on March 18th

New Zealand's prime minister says her country's gun laws will change after last week's attacks on mosques that killed at least 50 people.  Jacinda Ardern announced the cabinet has made in-principle decisions about changes to gun laws.  She said those reforms will be announced soon.   

A bill that would take firearms away from those considered a danger to themselves or others has cleared another hurdle in the Colorado General Assembly.  A state Senate committee approved the controversial "red flag" bill on a party-line vote Friday.  The bill would allow a judge to issue a court order instructing law enforcement to confiscate guns from a person experiencing a mental health emergency.  The bill is strongly opposed by state Republican leaders, gun rights organizations and some local governments, and has led several counties to declare themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries.  The bill now goes to the Senate Appropriations Committee for consideration. 

Duke, Virginia, North Carolina, and Gonzaga are the number-one seeds for the NCAA Tournament.  The Blue Devils were named the top overall seed in the field of 68.  The tournament gets going with the First Four on Tuesday and Wednesday.
