Three Things You Need to Know on March 12th

More winter is on the way, despite today's warm temperatures which will be around 60 degrees.  Rain is expected to move in to the metro area tonight.  That's forecast to turn to snow sometime tomorrow morning.  The storm could bring several inches of snow to Denver with much higher totals in the mountains.  The National Weather Service is also calling for high winds, which could create blizzard-like conditions along the eastern Plains.  Blizzard warnings will be in place tomorrow south and east of Denver. 

A former state lawmaker is looking for support to end the practice of changing clocks for Daylight Saving Time in Colorado.  Greg Brophy has launched an online petition to garner support for the idea.  He's hoping the petition will push lawmakers to bring a ballot measure forward on the issue.  Brophy served in both the state House and Senate.  Twice he tried to push legislation through to end the practice of daylight saving, but both times it failed.  His latest effort can be found online at iPetitions.com. 

All remaining American personnel are leaving the U.S. embassy in Venezuela.  Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the decision is due to the deteriorating situation in the South American country.  U.S. relations with Venezuela have been increasingly strained since January when the Trump administration recognized opposition leader Juan Guaido as the legitimate president of the country.
