Three Things You Need to Know on January 7th

January 7, 2019

The partial government shutdown is now the third-longest in U.S. history.  Today is Day 17 of the shutdown while President Trump continues to insist on more than five-billion dollars for border wall.  Democratic leaders wants on legislation to re-open the government before they'll talk about money for a barrier on the border.

Daytime closures of U.S. 6 through Clear Creek Canyon will be going into effect, starting today.  CDOT will be doing rock mitigation work in the area.  The roadway will be closed 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and then 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday.  CDOT recommends I-70 as an alternate route.

Final preparations are underway for Governor-elect Jared Polis's inauguration tomorrow.  He'll be sworn in at the State Capitol at 11 a.m.  Polis succeeds current Governor John Hickenlooper, who leaves office after being term limited.  Tomorrow's ceremony is on the west steps of the Capitol, and will be free and open to the public.
