Three Things You Need to Know on January 10th

January 10, 2019

Federal workers are planning a rally outside the White House today on the 20th day of the partial government shutdown. Around 800-thousand federal employees are either working without pay or are furloughed. Members of Congress are expected to speak and workers will talk about how the shutdown is affecting them and their families. Here in Denver, Federal workers are expected to protest at the U.S. Custom House near 19th and California streets.

The Coast Guard says it has taken down an online tip sheet of suggestions to help active duty members and civilian workers survive the shutdown.  The page listed things people could do to raise money when they aren't getting paid.  The tip sheet included holding garage sales, babysitting, pet-sitting, and turning a "hobby into income."

The Broncos apparently have their next head coach.  Multiple sources say the team is bringing in Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to fill the post after parting ways with Vance Joseph following two-straight losing seasons.  Fangio's contract is reported to be a four-year deal with a team option for a fifth.  One-time head coach Gary Kubiak is also expected to return to the Broncos to run the offense.
