Three Things You Need to Know on August 7th

Four states (Kansas, Ohio, Michigan and Washington) are holding primary elections today. Some of these races could potentially change the face of Congress in November. 

The first wave of U.S. sanctions on Iran that had been suspended by the 2015 nuclear agreement, snapped back into place at a minute after midnight Eastern Time.  This round hits Iran's trade in gold and other precious metals, the sale or transfer of metals including steel and aluminum, coal, and a wide range of currency transactions.  

New software designed to cut waiting times for customers at the Colorado DMV appears to actually be increasing those times.  Customers reported wait times of more than four hours at some Denver DMV locations yesterday.  It was the first day DMV offices were open after the installation of the software began last week.  DMV officials say staffers are getting used to the new software and that customers should see a decrease in wait times over the next few weeks.
