Three Things You Need to Know on August 13th

It's been one year since the protests in Charlottesville Virginia. A counterprotester, Heather Heyer, was killed when a man drove his car into a crowd. Yesterday, police arrested four people during a day of demonstrations.  Hundreds gathered to commemorate the violent confrontations, several partook in a 'Unite the Right" protest as well.

On Friday, a California jury found Monsanto liable in a lawsuit filed by a man who alleged the company's glyphosate-based weed-killers, including Roundup, caused his cancer. School groundskeeper Dewayne Johnson claimed he and other consumers were not warned of the cancer risks posed by its weed killers.The company was ordered to pay $289 million in damages. 

The Broncos played their first pre-season game on Saturday. Sadly, the tem lost 42-28 to the Vikings. Both wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, and linebacker Brandon Marshall stayed in the tunnel during the anthem. The NFL and the players union are still working on a resolution to anthem protests.
