Three Things You Need to Know on April 26th

April 26, 2019

Kyler Murray is a history-maker.  The 2018 Heisman Trophy winner from Oklahoma is the first athlete to be selected in the first rounds of both the NFL and Major League Baseball drafts.  The Arizona Cardinals made Murray the number-one pick in the NFL draft last night.  He was the Oakland A's first-round pick last year. The Broncos are adding University of Iowa tight end Noah Fant to the team with the 20th pick in last night's first round of the NFL draft.  The team traded back from number ten, sending that pick to the Steelers in exchange for Pittsburgh's first and second round pick this year and a third round selection next year.

Multiple people are confirmed dead and a number of others injured after a fiery crash along eastbound I-70 in Lakewood.  It happened yesterday afternoon when the driver of a semi-truck lost control and slammed into other vehicles along the roadway.  Investigators say at least three big rigs and 12 other vehicles were involved.  The chain reaction crash resulted in a massive fire which sent a large plume of black smoke that could be seen all over the metro area.

The long-delayed G-Line will be opening today.  It's RTD's latest commuter rail service that runs between Wheat Ridge and Union Station.  A grand opening ceremony is set for this morning at 9 a.m. at the Ward Station.  A ribbon cutting will be held at 10 a.m., meaning it won't be available to weekday morning commuters until Monday.  The G-Line will be free until May 11th.  To celebrate the opening, RTD will offer free rides aboard all rail lines tomorrow.
