Things to do in Denver

It's gonna be a snowy weekend in Denver, but that doesn't mean you can't have some wintery fun! Forget the mountains, the city is full of stuff to do!

Go Running
Registration fees vary
I know, seems like a crazy suggestion. It may be chilly, but there are still plenty of outdoor opportunities to run around, and get some activity in this weekend (besides beer curls). Here are a few of the races going on around town, and it’s not too late to register!

Freeze Your Buns Off 5k - Saturday at Blind Faith Brewing (this one comes with drinks)
Love ‘Em or Leave ‘Em 5k - Saturday in Parker
Sweetheart Shuffle - Saturday in Thornton
Ralston Creek Half Marathon - Sunday in Arvada
Valentine’s Day 4 Miles - Sunday in Wash Park

First Friday
Ok, it's not the *best* day for an art walk on Santa Fe, or a trek through RiNo, but if you can brave the elements, it will probably be the least crowded First Friday ever. Galleries are free, and usually jam-packed, but this month, you may have them all to yourself.

Teacher Happy Hour
I know, most teachers had a happy day today, with it being a snow day and all, but Book Bar on Tennyson offers all teachers half off glasses of wine, and 20% off of books every Friday from 4-6pm. Why not celebrate a long, hard week, and a sweet sweet snow day! Just bring your school ID.

Snowed In Cherry Release
Copper Kettle Brewing releases their annual cherry stout today. What perfect timing! If you aren't snowed in yourself, head on down and be one of the first to sample this year's brew.

REI Garage Sale
Free for members
A few times a year, REI pulls all of it’s returned and lightly used gear, clothing and outdoor equipment out of the garage, and into the parking lot. From there, members of the REI Co-Op can browse through awesome stuff, at crazy prices. Get there early, because the good stuff is usually gone fast.

Rinoval at the Denver Central Market
One of Denver's best food halls is hosting an after-hours Carnival on Saturday night. Starting at 10pm, the Denver Central Market becomes a bazaar full of carnival favorites, and exclusive drinks. $5 from every ticket will also go to benefit wild fire relief in Australia. Maybe take a disco nap to prepare for the late night!
Get tickets, and some more info, here.

Relationsh*t Improv
Tired of all this Valenties day mush? It's only gonna get worse. Why not laugh off some of your own relationship fails with improv comedy, based on actual experiences from audience members? You can share your trauma at the Grafenberg Sketch Comedy And Improv Theater on Saturday night. Most theraputic ten bucks you'll ever spend. Probably.
Get info and tickets here.

Galentine’s Market  at Infinite Monkey Theorem
Yes, Valentine’s Day can be sweet a good and loved up and all that crap, but you gotta remember to celebrate your ladies on Galentine’s Day! From 11am-2pm, sip wine and shop in RiNo. You're doing it in the name of female friendship, so it's important.

Valentine's Day Shakedown St.
Over Yonder Brewing in Golden (SUPER cool place, if you haven't been there yet) is hosting their next Shakedown Street, which is pretty much just a local vendor market inside their brewery. It's a great excuse to do some outdoor-style shopping, inside. With a beer.
