Three Things You Need to Know on January 31st

At least 75% of the continental US is experiencing freezing temps because of the polar vortex. Many schools and businesses remain closed across the midwest. Thankfully, it's expected to warm up a bit by the weekend. 

Tyson Foods is recalling more than 36,000 pounds of chicken nuggets because they may be contaminated with rubber. The U.S. Agriculture Department says there were consumer complaints about extraneous material Tyson White Meat Panko Chicken Nuggets. There are no confirmed reports of adverse reactions. The packages have a best if used by date of Nov. 26, 2019. The nuggets should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase.

Two vetrenarians in Colorado have an important surgery today. Logan, a 10-week-old German Shepherd puppy from western Washington, with a fatal heart condition,  is in Colorado for life-saving surgery. When Logan's guardians found out about his condition, they created a puppy bucket list for him. Videos of Logan accomplishing his list items went viral on social media, a pair of Colorado veterinarians who saw the story and realized they could perform life-saving surgery on the pup. Logan is now with veterinarians at Colorado State University and his first surgery is scheduled for Thursday. We're rooting for him!
