Six Things to do In Denver This Weekend, That Don't Totally Suck

January 25, 2019

It's here, it's finally here! Now what are we supposed to do?

We've come up with a few things you can do this weekend in Denver, that aren't boring and won't totally suck. We hope.

Friday:

Zuni St. Brewing Ski Movie Night

Free

Itching to hit the slopes this weekend, but a trip out west just isn’t in the cards? Or Maybe you just want to get amped up for an epic day on the mountain tomorrow? Every Friday, Zuni Brewing is showing a ski movie, to get people in the downhill spirit. The screening starts at 6:00, but you can get there early and grab one of the brewery's many craft beers, or hit up the food truck du jour. Might be best to get there early if you're hell bent on getting a good seat.

Michael Yo at Comedy Works South

$25

You may recognize him from Chelsea Lately, E! News or the Michael Yo Show, but after his four show stop at Comedy Works in Greenwood Village, you'll know him as the guy who made you laugh until you peed a little (happens to everyone, we won't tell). Comedy Works is one of the best comedy clubs in the whole dang country, audience members and comedians agree on this. Make a night of it, and ride the laughter endorphin wave into the weekend.

Saturday:

Bourbon and Bacon

So, tickets to this annual event are technically sold out, but we recommend trying to find a friend to tag along with, if you can. We'll be hosting 3 hours of bourbon sampling and bacon creations from some of Denver's best restaurants at the McNichols Civic Center Building. It's fun, it's boozy, and if you don't already have tickets, this is your reminder to hop on them early next year.

Live Karaoke with the Gin Doctors

$10

We all love Karaoke. And we all love local 90's tribute band the Gin Doctors (if you don't know them yet, get on it). Combine the two, you've got one epic night. You can live out your dreams of singing Wonderwall to a packed house, and get a taste of the 90's rockstar life. The party officially starts at Hi DIve on SOuth Broadway at 8:00. Sign up to sing one of 28 monster hits from an incredible decade, complete with a live band to back you up. Might be a good idea to show up early if you plan on singing.

Sunday:

bRUNch - Denver Milk Market

Free + cost of brunch

Does drinking a pitcher of mimosas before noon make you feel a bit, I dunno, lazy? Here’s a chance to earn those bubbles! Denver’s bRUNch running club is hosting a free brunch run, or bRUNch on Sunday morning. The 5k social run (not a race) casually kicks off around 9am from Milk Market’s Moo Bar. Registration comes with a free Tito’s Vodka drink ticket (if you’re over 21). And you can stick around for Brunch Bingo which gets underway at noon. A way to day drink, relatively guilt free.

Barbed Wire Reef Soft Opening

Free

Barbed Wire Reef is one of Denver's most popular and easily recognized food trucks. They specialize in seafood and wild game, and now, they're settling down on 38th Ave. in Berkeley! THis weekend will be the restaurant's soft opening, so this is some super-exclusive info here. See what it's like when some of the city's best meats come in off the streets.
