Three Things You Need to Know on February 14th

February 14, 2019

A three-day strike in Denver Public Schools is over after district officials and the teachers union came to an agreement.  Both sides negotiated for nearly 20 hours straight and through the night to reach a deal.  DPS and the union finalized an agreement this morning on a new pay schedule for teachers, as well as incentives for educators who choose to work in high-needs schools.

Today marks one year since 17 people were killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis is marking the anniversary with a call for action.  DeSantis announced yesterday that a petition has been filed to form a grand jury to investigate the shooting. He said the purpose of the grand jury will be to identify and hold those accountable for the shooting, and suggest measures to prevent future tragedies.

The Broncos are reportedly making a deal for another quarterback. Multiple sources say the team has agreed in principle to a trade, sending a fourth-round pick to the Ravens for Joe Flacco. The deal can't be made official until the new league year starts next month. There's also speculation the Broncos will shop Case Keenum around the league for a possible trade.
