Three Things You Need to Know on March 26th

March 26, 2019

It is now against the law to own bump stocks.  Bump stocks are attachments that allow semi-automatic weapons to fire like automatics.  The Justice Department announced the ban in December.  In October of 2017, a gunman used rifles fitted with bump stocks to kill nearly 60 people at a country music festival on the Las Vegas Strip.

The final state Senate vote on the so-called red flag gun bill is being delayed.  The measure has been laid over until today despite a vote scheduled for yesterday.  The measure would allow guns to be seized from owners who are deemed to be a risk to themselves or others.  The bill has been met with opposition from multiple counties in Colorado.  Just one more vote sends it back to the state House for approval on changes.  Governor Polis has indicated he will sign off on it.

There will definitely be spring in the air in the metro area for the next couple days ahead of a cold front.  The National Weather Service has a forecasted high around 70 today.  Things are expected to be slightly warmer tomorrow with a high in the mid-70s.  Forecasters say a storm system could move in later in the week, with potential snow on Friday night.
