6 Things to Do in Denver This Weekend, That Don't Totally Suck

February 22, 2019

The hostless Oscars are on Sunday, but we know you don't want to sit inside and watch people watch themselves for three hours. Here are some other things to do!

Opening Weekend at the Broadway Market

Denver's newest food hall opens Friday! If you haven't been to one of these open-concept restaurants and markets, we highly recommend it. What's not to love about a choose-your-own-adventure style dinner or happy hour? No matter what you're feeling, they've got it, and all in one place. No need to bar hop, you can stroll around the Broadway Market and check out shops and restaurants like Maria Empanada, Royal Rooster, Velvet Wolf and Little Noodle Pasta Co.

Check out the market here.

Fish Fry Fridays

Any East Coasters/Rust Belters/Midwesterners missing a Friday fish fry? They are hard to come by outside the Eastern time zone. Well Milk Market (one of Denver's other open-concept food halls) is our food savior this season. Get your fill of fried fish with fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce, just we way you used to get it at the local bar or church parking lot. We just drooled on the keyboard a bit.

Cupid's Undie Run

$45 now/ $50 at the door

Strip down to your underwear and running shoes, for a good cause! Cupid's Undie Run is back and hundreds of runners will tear through the streets of downtown Denver to help find a cure for neurofibromatosis. The run is only a mile, so hypothermia and frostbite shouldn't be an issue. Now, time to pick out the perfect panties.

Playing with Pasta

If outdoor stuff isn't really your thing, we get it. Why not play inside, with everyone's favorite food, pasta! Sarto's in Jefferson Park will teach you how to make delightful pasta at home. They'll also include mimosas and snacks with all that pasta expertise. You know what they say, give a man a pasta, and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to pasta, and he'll have so many friends. Or something like that.

Register here.

Drag Brunch at Steubens

Sick of the same old brunch routine? Well this certainly will be a drag, in a good way! Drag legend, Felony Misdemeanor will be serving up some serious entertainment, along with the usual service of brunch fare. Bring cash to tip your servers and performers, reservations are highly recommended.

UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup

In case you hadn't noticed, there's a huge ice wall that's been set up in Civic Center Park. That's not just for fun, the Ice Climbing World Cup is going down in Denver this weekend. The Men's and Women's Semi-Finals and Finals are on Sunday. You can marvel at the best climbers in the world as they tackle an ice wall that Jon Snow could only dream of! There's also a winter festival going on, so you can grab some snacks and drinks while you watch amazing athletes scale some ice.
